On the rood screen, the Church-Museum presents a collection of liturgical garments, including those of Father Edgar LeBlanc (parish priest of Barachois from 1930 to 1962) and Monsignor Camille-André LeBlanc (native of Barachois and bishop of Bathurst from 1942 to 1969), as well as around 20 statues and numerous objects of worship reflecting Acadia’s rich religious heritage. Banners from parish brotherhoods of the period are also displayed on the walls. Also displayed is an aboiteau in excellent condition. This aboiteau, about 10 metres long, was found on a beach less than 2 km from the historical church. It thought to be around 200 years old.
International collection of hooked cushions from Barachois
With more than 330 cushions, the collection celebrates the creative work of crocheters from around the world. The permanent collection includes three international projects: “200 hooked cushions for my 200th,” “USA50” and “Japan.” Since spring 2023, fifty hooked cushions have been loaned to the Kent Museum (Bouctouche) and exhibited in the chapel. In 2023, the collection received one of the most prestigious awards in North America: the Sauder Award.
